Olbermann is such a fucking ass hat. I listened to his rant on Lolo Jones. It was filled with over-generalizations, premature negative branding, and smacked of nothing more than an attempt to make himself relevant with hand-picked phrases. I actually liked him back in the day and was disappointed he was fired from ESPN. Then I watched him on MSNBC and realized what a complete douchebag he was, essentially doing the same thing then that he does now.
That's the long way of saying, "I can't watch or listen to him, even if he's right about Jeter."
And let me add that, while a very well-rounded player and worthy of a top 100 spot, Jeter has never been a candidate for best player ever....unless you mean with the ladies. Then, I think he wins because fuck him. Fuck him, and Leonardo DiCaprio, and George Clooney.
Olbermann is an ass who did some counter-programming to the similarly dumb Jeter-adulation tour on ESPN to get some notice. Woohoo.
As with most things, he's somewhat right (Jeter is wildly overrated) but he also very much buries the lead (he says it like once, but Jeter is still an amazing player, easily top-5 at his position all time).
