My buddy has 2 of them. They're possessive little fuckers.
After getting home from overseas I noticed Kingpin, the old cat's hair was discolored and stinky. Washed him up and over the next weeks noticed he had started drooling sometimes and his breath reeked. Suspected dental issues. (Drool when it gets in their hair will also turn brown when it dries). Also noticed him one day pawing at his mouth.

Anyway so got him to the vet yesterday and they kept him overnight to do a teeth cleaning and then in the morning pull any teeth that looked like they needed to come out; ended up pulling two teeth and discovered a mass underneath that had caused them to rot. Did a smear test and they came back abnormal which means bone cancer. Sad

He comes home at 2pm, with some pain meds. He still seems to be enjoying life for now but that will probably change in near to not too distance future so will have to watch him demeanor going forward on when to make the call as he will probably get to be in to a large amount of pain among other symptoms as it spreads.
This thread is depressing as shit.
my dog seems to be doing ok surprisingly. I've determined that she wants to live long enough to move to the new house with us next month so she can piss and shit everywhere before dying.
Our new dog is in a two week diarrhea shit storm.
Get them to the vet if you haven't, if it goes past 4 days it could be something worse and regardless is bad for their health.

Ps. Can give them small amounts of canned pumpkin to help solidify their poos. Don't recall the dosing for weight though (its quite small), should look that up as Vitamin A can be toxic to dogs of which pumpkin has a lot of so its easy to over do it. (Some Vitamin A is fine and in fact healthy though, but too much in one go, or too regular of a time in their diet causes it build up in their systems)

Has the dog had their parvovirus shot?

+1 yeah that’s a bummer

overdue update: ex gf’s malamute griffin died few yrs ago. when we split n she moved out. she got a cat few months later. 6 months after that she got another cat that was meek, skittish, and a slow eater. cat #1 would just pounce chase or attack the other guy. or eat his food.

she got fed up w the first one n was gonna return him to the shelter. by then i’ve visited her enough to know both cats well and was happy to take the jerk off her hands. our personalities are a perfect match. oreo (tux color) has been a hilarious addition to the casa de }{

I tried to take the dog to the overnight vet to get her euthanized but my wife didn't let me. Doggy doing a little better but if this is the dog's quality of life from here on out, it needs to be put to sleep. Going to see how it fairs today and decide...

Dog took a turn for the worse about 6 days ago. We have upped her meds but it's not helping her breathing much. I've been setting the expectations with my wife that if she doesn't significantly improve this week, I am putting her down. There's no coming back from heart failure so I'm just delaying the inevitable.

So my dog died early yesterday morning. She wasn't handling the new house very well. Frankly, it just isn't convenient for a dog (grass only in the front yard and no dog door. She got worse and worse. Her belly was huge with fluid from the malfunctioning heart. I actually spoke with my wife that very night before about putting her down this weekend. Just not the same dog and she wasn't enjoying life. Before I went to bed I sat down next to her bed and started petting her and scratching her ears for a half hour. I started getting emotional and she definitively felt the vibe. Call me crazy but I felt like she let me know that it was cool to put her down, she was done fighting. I went to bed and less than 4 hours later I hear my wife yelling for me (she had gone to check on the dog) that it had passed. I feel bad for not doing it before the move, but she was doing ok up until then.

Lost two dogs in 9 months. I think we are going on a break from having dogs for a while. Is it me or is it getting dusty in here?
