after next week's follow up office visit and new addition of meds, gonna set me back about $1200. The dog is taking the medication very well but they found a mass in her heart. Prognosis is 6 months to live. Next time she has an episode of heart failure will be her last.

Nah. Not this time. Already went thru this once. If she dies, she dies (Drago voice). I've already set expectations with the wife that we won't spend any more money.

Getting a Christmas puppy.

damn dog had an episode of heart failure last night. Was up all night. I tried to take the dog to the overnight vet to get her euthanized but my wife didn't let me. Doggy doing a little better but if this is the dog's quality of life from here on out, it needs to be put to sleep. Going to see how it fairs today and decide...

Dude, don't postpone the inevitable. Save the dog from further misery and put her to sleep. its the humane thing to do.

Had to put Rocco down in August. Lost both our dogs this year. He was such a good dog, got attention everywhere he went due to his size and uniqueness. Great fucking dog. So I feel your pain, but it's better to put them down when they're feeling normal than to watch your dog's body shut down while you rush them to the animal hospital, like we did. Fucking terrible.

We've got a new one though, Ripley. She's crazy.
