I just purchased an external Samsun optical drive for my macbook pro. It read/writes Blu Ray. Is there a free (or paid but stable) solution for playing blu rays on my mac?
Alternate question: What is the best Windows solution for playing Blu Rays? I have a 110 gig windows partition, so if windows gives me a better option for blu ray playback let me know?
I guess the software that comes with the samsung drive will be my windows solution if worse comes to worst, but it is only trial and needs to be upgraded for a fee.
I think that VideoLAN supports BR playback. I know that some BR libs were released for it last month. VideoLan works on both platforms.

I need to dl additional libraries right? Will VLC play new releases or only older releases
I run everything through VLC old and new. Have yet to find a mediafile or disk that it did not play. I know that there is a new region checking firmware on newer drives that may impact foreign disks. Currently, I think that BR support is through a library add on. I have not played with BR playback as I backup my disks to a server and stream them. (Handbrake.fr to MKV)

When we bought our new television for the family room, I had my son me help pick both the tv and Blu Ray systems out. Someone how I was conned into buying a PS3, plus at least 4 games and 10 BR movies. Note to self: I'll go by myself next time.
The PS3 works well, but I wanted something that played multiple movies, and we found nothing.
For windows, VLC is tried and true, but there's also people who like Media Player Classic.
XBMC is open for both Mac and Windows but I didn't like it for either platform. Didn't seem simple enough to play a damn file fast.
I can't get VLC to recognize the security key libraries.
